As a Marketing & Events Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in educating the public about brain injury and the challenges faced by those living with it. You will have the opportunity to man information stands at various community events, sharing valuable insights and resources.

About Us:

Headway Norfolk & Waveney is a local independent charity, working across the region to support those living with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI). We support adults impacted by Brain Injury, resulting from, but not limited to stroke, road traffic accident, trips and falls. Our aim is to improve day-to-day life for every individual we work with; to improve their confidence, independence, empower them to access community assets, to socialise, enhance their wellbeing, provide them with tools and techniques to manage their symptoms and to support them in setting and achieving person centred goals.

Role Title: Centre Volunteer

Location:

Norwich & South Norfolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney, King’s Lynn & Breckland or Aylsham & Broadland

Commitment:

Flexible - frequency of opportunities depends on requests. It is then up to you as to what you wish to get involved in as and when offered.

We're looking for a Marketing & Events Volunteer to help us with a variety of exciting tasks, including:

  • Social Media Magic: Craft engaging social media posts that capture our audience's attention and promote our mission and events.

  • Content Creation Corner: Assist in developing creative content, such as blog posts, website copy, and email newsletters.

  • Eye for the Story: Capture captivating photos and videos of our events, programs, and people to showcase our impact visually.

  • Fundraising Fun: Lend a hand at fundraising events, assisting with setup, registration, or guest interaction.

  • Client Captivation: Support staff at client-focused events by helping with logistics and hosting duties.

Support provided/ Personal benefits:

We will ask you to attend our induction training sessions. Following this:

• Ad hoc training opportunities

• At least two one-to-one sessions with the lead for this role

• Information and updates of Headway Norfolk & Waveney’s work

• Public speaking guidance – if wished. You will be briefed before events.

• Having your expenses paid within agreed guidelines. Please see volunteer handbook

Qualifications:

  • Strong interest in marketing, social media, and/or event planning.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Creativity and a willingness to learn new things.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Basic knowledge of photography and/or videography (a plus, but not required)

Who can volunteer in this role:

Headway Norfolk & Waveney has limited restrictions for those wishing to volunteer. We do, however, need volunteers to be over the age of 18.

We encourage applications from those people with lived experience of being affected by ABI (personally or as family member/carer)

You will be asked to complete an application form, and when you have decided that this role is for you, we will ask you for the contact details of two referees so that references can be taken up before you start volunteering.

In-line with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exemptions Order), this role is also subject to a DBS check.
